October Devotional

When you live and work a farm, there always seems to be an endless line of equipment that needs repaired. I thought I would start with an easy project before moving on to the next. I was in the process of putting a new belt on the lawn mower when I lost one of the crucial bolts needed to finish fastening it in place . I looked everywhere! I moved all the deck parts, and the blades,, the wheels, but still no bolt. I looked all around the mower and off to side in case it rolled still nothing. My quick fix job was quickly becoming a lengthy one looking for one small bolt.

Now I know some of you fine ladies are thinking, “ that is so typical—my husband can’t find anything and it is usually right where I said it would be.”

Finally, it occurred to me to pray. “Lord, I know you know where this little bolt is. Holy Spirit, open my eyes so I can see it. And within 10 seconds, I found it.

I realize to some that may seem pretty odd to pray about something so small, but it is a core teaching in the scripture. We are to ask and it will be given, seek and you will find. But more importantly, we need to have the Lord open our eyes in our families, churches, and in all our relationships with one another.

Psalms 119:18 “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your laws.”
